Basic Statement of Faith
God
We believe in one God Who is ONE (Deuteronomy 6:4), who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, who reveals Himself to man through nature (Romans 1:20), through His Word, the Bible (Deuteronomy 29:29), and most clearly through the person of Jesus Christ (Hebrew 1:3).
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the revelation of the One God — conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, crucified, and resurrected — our Apostle, High Priest and Advocate (Hebrews 3:1; 1 John 2:1). He is the visible face of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15) and in Whose face the glory of God is revealed (2 Corinthians 4:6).
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit, who is the invisible and spiritual presence of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit instructs and empowers every believer for godly living and service (John 16:13-14; 2 Corinthians 3:17).
God’s Word
We believe the entire Bible to be the inspired, infallible Word of God, the revelation of God’s will for man and the divine and final authority for the Christian life (Deuteronomy 6:4; John 15:26).
Salvation
We believe in personal salvation and forgiveness of sins through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, acknowledging every person’s need for the grace and mercy of God (Romans 3:23-24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 1:9).
Water Baptism
We baptize (immerse) in water all those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ in accordance with the Bible’s command. Water baptism completes the actual legal and physical transfer of a person into the personal property of Jesus Christ. We baptize all believers “into the name of the Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 2:38, Acts 8:16, Acts 10:48, Acts 19:5; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12).
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is the “promise of the Father” for every believer and is an experience distinct from and following the new birth. Speaking in tongues, as the Holy Spirit gives utterance, is a physical indication of the baptism with the Holy Spirit along with spiritual empowerment (Matthew 3:11; Acts 1:8, Acts 2:4, 38-39, 19:4-6).
Communion
We serve and receive the Lord’s Supper according to the Scriptures, to remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross and celebrate His resurrection power in the Body of Christ (Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
Prayer
We believe in the power and effectiveness of prayer (Philippians 4:6-7; James 5:15-16).
Healing
We believe that Jesus is the Healer. Jesus death not only provides forgiveness of sin, but healing for those who believe. Therefore, we practice prayer for the sick with laying in of hands and anointing with oil (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-15; 1 Peter 2:24).
Second Coming
We believe in the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that His appearance will be accompanied by a bodily resurrection of those who have died in Christ (Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
God’s Plan
We believe in God’s terrific plan for each of His children. The purpose of the whole of creation is the family of God. God foreordained that we should know Him, enjoy Him and do His works in the earth. God has a specific will for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11, Matthew 5:16, 25:40; Ephesians 2:10).
Eternity
We believe in the eventual resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost (John 14:1-3; 1 John 5:11; Revelation 20:15).
